Bimatoprost ophthalmic solution 0.03%

Bimatoprost solution is a prescription treatment for hypotrichosis (inadequate growth) of especially the eyelashes. Although the precise mechanism of action is unknown, Bimatoprost is believed to affect the growth phase of the eyelash hair cycle in two ways: firstly, it increases the length of this phase; and secondly, it increases the percentage of hair in this growth phase.

The practice of medicine is not an exact science and no guarantees can be or have been made concerning expected results. You may see results from Bimatoprost treatment by week 4 it will take up to 16 weeks to experience the full effect. If you stop using Bimatoprost your eyelashes are expected to abate after discontinuation. The recommended use of Bimatoprost is once nightly with a special applicator.

Side effects reported during clinical trials were mostly mild to moderate. The most common side effects included an itching sensation in the eyes and/or eye redness. Bimatoprost solution may also cause other less common side effects which typically occur on the skin close to where Bimatoprost is applied, or in the eyes. These include darkening of the eyelid skin which may be reversible and increased brown pigmentation of the iris (coloured part of the eye) which is likely to be permanent. It is also possible for hair growth to occur in other areas of your skin that Bimatoprost frequently touches.
